One of the best things about Rhydyfelin is that it’s actually incredibly well connected with transport links across South Wales.

Buses in Rhydyfelin

As well as buses with hyperlocal routes, two major bus routes run through Rhydyfelin from Blaencwm to Caerphilly and from Maerdy to Cardiff.

These buses stop every few hundred metres along the way, so the journey isn’t quick, but they do serve a lot of areas along the route.

Trains in Rhydyfelin

Treforest is the closest railway station to Rhydyfelin.

Trains run North/South out of Treforest Station about 12 times per hour. It’s easy to get to Cardiff, Barry, Merthyr Tydfil, Aberdare and Treherbert from Treforest.

Treforest Station has a handy car park operating a park and ride ticket to Cardiff

There’s also a train station at Treforest Estate although not all the trains stop there, so the timetable is less frequent.

Like most British trains, the fares are expensive. Like trains across South Wales, the service can be unreliable in bad weather and the actual train carriages are very basic. They can get extremely crowded during rush hours and large events.
