About Rhydyfelin

About Rhydyfelin

Rhydyfelin is a large village approximately 2 miles south of Pontypridd in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Rhydyfelin was home to first Welsh language secondary school in South Wales, and the town has a rich industrial history spanning the last 300 years. There’s also evidence of older settlements in and around the area we now know as Rhydyfelin.

Rhydyfelin is not the original spelling, it is in fact a somewhat anglicised version of Rhydfelen which literally means Mill Ford in English.

Rhydyfelin is quite densely populated with a wide range of people. Residents of Rhydyfelin include families, students, professionals and retired individuals. Many local businesses operate from Rhydyfelin, due to its convenient location and proximity to Treforest Estate, Pontypridd and Cardiff.

People living in Rhydyfelin are never further than 10 minutes away from the rural countryside, with Mynydd Eglwysilan to the east with hundreds of acres of common land to explore.

Rhydyfelin is an excellent place to live, visit or set up a business. Welcome!
